Music lovers have reason to rejoice as playback megastar Arijit Singh makes a stunning return to mainstream cinema soundtracks. Vishesh Bhatt and the makers of the highly anticipated action drama Awarapan 2 title track, “Yeh Awarapan,” sung by Singh, will release across all major streaming platforms on July 21, 2026.
The collaboration bridges a rich legacy between Arijit Singh and Vishesh Films. It was Vishesh Films that originally introduced the nation to Singh’s transcendent voice through the unforgettable track “Phir Mohabbat” in Murder 2. Fifteen years later, producer Vishesh Bhatt personally convinced the singer to anchor the emotional core of Awarapan 2, capturing the tormented and soulful essence of the protagonist, Shivam Pandit.
Composed by Amaal Mallik with deeply evocative lyrics penned by Rashmi Virag, “Yeh Awarapan” is expected to be a major chart-topper. The sequel, directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, stars Emraan Hashmi reprising his iconic role alongside Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Suvindar Vicky, Vijayant Kholi, and Atul Kumar. The film is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
The makers have officially confirmed that Yeh Awarapan will debut on July 21, offering audiences their first musical glimpse into Awarapan 2.
The track has been composed by Amaal Malik, one of Bollywood’s most successful contemporary music directors, while acclaimed lyricist Rashmi Virag has penned the words.
Given the emotional legacy of the original Awarapan, expectations are naturally high for the new song. Fans anticipate that Yeh Awarapan will blend haunting melodies with heartfelt lyrics, continuing the franchise’s tradition of memorable music.
The announcement has sparked widespread enthusiasm on social media, with listeners eagerly awaiting another soulful performance by Arijit Singh.
The original Awarapan, released in 2007, earned cult status not only for its emotional storytelling but also for its unforgettable soundtrack.
Songs such as Toh Phir Aao, Tera Mera Rishta, Maula Maula, and Juda Hoke Bhi remain among the most loved tracks in Bollywood even today.
The music became an emotional extension of Shivam Pandit’s journey, helping audiences connect deeply with the character portrayed by Emraan Hashmi.
The makers now hope Yeh Awarapan will recreate that same emotional magic while introducing a fresh musical identity for the sequel.
The release of “Yeh Awarapan” comes as a pleasant surprise to millions of fans following Arijit Singh’s monumental announcement earlier in the year. In January 2026, the singer shook the Indian music ecosystem by declaring via social media that he was stepping away from mainstream playback singing.
Stating “I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey,” Singh revealed that he would no longer take on fresh commercial playback assignments, choosing instead to honour existing pipeline commitments while shifting his creative focus toward independent music, personal growth as an artist, and a return to Indian classical traditions.
Despite his semi-retirement from commercial Bollywood singing, industry insiders note that a few high-profile tracks signed prior to his announcement—such as this special collaboration for Awarapan 2—will still see the light of day through 2026. As “Yeh Awarapan” prepares to hit the airwaves, it stands as a powerful reminder of the unmatched magic Arijit Singh brings to cinema, making this upcoming release an unmissable event for music enthusiasts.
