Bollywood star Ranveer Singh was spotted at the sacred Chamundeshwari Temple atop the Chamundi Hills in Mysuru early Tuesday morning, May 26, 2026. The actor’s visit comes as a pivotal moment in the actor’s recent series of professional and legal challenges, marking the fulfilment of a commitment made to the Karnataka High Court regarding the controversial mimicry of the Kantara Daiva performance.
The visit, which remained largely private, saw the actor arriving around 7:30 a.m. dressed in simple attire and wearing a mask to remain inconspicuous before the arrival of the daily crowds.
The temple visit stems from a legal case registered against Singh following a 2025 event in Goa. During the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the actor recreated a sacred Daiva scene from the film Kantara: Chapter 1, an act that sparked outrage among cultural groups and led to an FIR being filed against him for allegedly “mocking” a revered tradition and referring to the Daiva as a “ghost.”
On April 25, 2026, the Karnataka High Court quashed the proceedings against the actor after he submitted an unconditional apology and a revised affidavit to the court. As part of the resolution, the court directed Singh to visit the Chamundeshwari Temple within four weeks to offer prayers and make amends.
Executive Officer M.J. Roopa confirmed the visit, noting that the actor arrived unannounced and personally informed the temple priest, Sunil, of his intention to offer apologies to the deity. He was subsequently led to the Garbha Gudi (sanctum sanctorum) to conduct special prayers.

Singh’s visit to Mysuru coincides with one of the most challenging weeks of his career. While the legal issue regarding the Kantara controversy has been put to rest, the actor is currently embroiled in a severe professional standoff with the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).
Earlier this week, the FWICE issued a “non-cooperation directive” against Ranveer Singh following a complaint by producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani (Excel Entertainment). The producers allege that the actor’s sudden exit from Don 3—just three weeks before shooting was slated to begin—caused immense logistical disruptions and financial losses, for which they are seeking ₹45 crore in damages.
The actor’s camp has maintained a position of restraint throughout these events. While he has been vocal about his deep respect for the film fraternity and the Don franchise, his team has chosen not to publicly engage with the accusations leveled by the FWICE.
For many, the visit to the Chamundeshwari Temple serves as a symbolic attempt by the actor to find closure regarding his past controversies before he addresses the ongoing standoff with the country’s largest film workers’ union. With the High Court proceedings now closed, all eyes are on whether this gesture of humility will influence the current stalemate with Excel Entertainment and the federation.
As the actor continues to navigate the complexities of his professional life, the Mysuru visit underscores his effort to comply with the judiciary and respect local sentiments. Whether this will aid in resolving the ongoing professional crisis remains to be seen, but for now, the actor appears to be focused on fulfilling his legal and personal commitments while maintaining a dignified silence on his industrial disputes.
