‘Dabangg’ Director Abhinav Kashyap Calls Salman Khan a ‘Goon’ in Explosive Interview

Abhinav Kashyap Calls Salman Khan a 'Goon' in Explosive Interview

Filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap, best known for directing the blockbuster ‘Dabangg,’ has reignited his long-standing feud with superstar Salman Khan in a recent and explosive interview. In a candid conversation with the publication SCREEN, Kashyap made a series of powerful allegations, claiming that Salman Khan has lost his passion for acting and is more interested in wielding his power as a celebrity. The director did not hold back, going so far as to call the actor a “gunda” (goon).

This is not the first time Abhinav Kashyap has publicly spoken out against the superstar and his family, but his latest remarks are particularly strong. The director’s statements have sent shockwaves through the industry, bringing back into the spotlight a feud that began years ago after the phenomenal success of Dabangg.

A Controversial Interview of Abhinav Kashyap

In the interview, Abhinav Kashyap alleged that Salman Khan shows up to work as if he is “doing a favour” to everyone. “Salman is never involved,” Kashyap stated. ” For the past 25 years, he has shown little interest in acting, merely treating work as a formality. What drives him now is the power of celebrity, not the craft. He is nothing less than a goon.”

Kashyap further alleged that he was not aware of this side of Salman Khan before working with him on Dabangg, describing his behaviour as “ill-mannered and difficult.” He also accused the entire Khan family of being “vindictive” and “controlling,” asserting that they try to dominate the industry and make life difficult for anyone who doesn’t conform to their ways.

The ‘Tere Naam’ Connection and a Historical Feud

The filmmaker also recalled a past incident involving his brother, renowned director Anurag Kashyap, to illustrate his claims. Abhinav revealed that Anurag was originally set to direct the 2003 film Tere Naam but had to step away. The film was eventually directed by the late Satish Kaushik. According to Abhinav, his brother had warned him before Dabangg that he would have a tough time working with Salman Khan.

“The same happened with Anurag Kashyap in Tere Naam. How would he guide or advise me? He told me before Dabangg that you won’t be able to make a film with Salman,” Abhinav shared. He explained that Anurag did not go into great detail but simply believed Abhinav would “get easily bullied.”

Salman Khan’s Current Projects and a Silent Stance

While Abhinav Kashyap has been vocal with his allegations, Salman Khan has maintained a stoic silence. The superstar has not publicly responded to any of the claims made by the director, choosing instead to focus on his work.

On the professional front, Salman Khan’s career remains unaffected by the controversy. He is currently shooting for his highly anticipated movie, a film based on the Galwan Battle, directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The film is expected to be a high-octane action drama and marks a new collaboration for the actor. Salman Khan is also hosting the hit reality show Bigg Boss 19, a role he has consistently carried for more than a decade.

This public confrontation between two prominent figures in the film industry highlights a complex and often tense relationship between creative vision and celebrity power in Bollywood. As the industry watches on, it remains to be seen whether Salman Khan will address the allegations or continue his silence.
