In a strategic move to capitalize on the cinematic calendar, the makers of the highly anticipated folklore fantasy The Vvaan have officially announced a new theatrical release date. Headlined by Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, the film is now scheduled to grace the big screens on September 25, 2026.
The film, originally slated for an August 28, 2026, release, has officially moved to late September. This shift allows the ambitious production to avoid a direct theatrical clash with the Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Eetha, which is firmly locked for the Raksha Bandhan weekend in August. By opting for a late-September slot, the producers of The Vvaan are ensuring that this large-scale spectacle receives the focused audience attention that a project of this magnitude demands.
To mark the announcement, the makers unveiled a brand-new poster that offers viewers a deeper glimpse into the film’s mysterious, forest-bound universe. The poster maintains the dark, high-fantasy aesthetic that has become the hallmark of the project’s marketing campaign.
The Vvaan is being positioned as a landmark entry in the Indian fantasy genre, blending elements of action, comedy, and adventure. Rather than relying on traditional adaptations, the film aims to build an original cinematic universe rooted in the rich traditions of Indian folklore. With heavy investment in world-building and cutting-edge visual effects, the film explores the deep, uncharted forests of Central India—a setting characterized by ancient legends and hidden mysteries.
The project is the result of a significant collaboration between two powerhouses of Indian production: Balaji Motion Pictures and TVF Motion Pictures. The team behind the camera is equally impressive, with direction by the duo Deepak Mishra and Arunabh Kumar, and a screenplay penned by Arunabh Kumar himself. Manu Anand brings his vision to the screen as the director of photography and visual director.
The film’s marketing has been as ambitious as its production, notably with the recent launch of the graphic novel The Legend of Vvan at the Mumbai Comic Con 2026. This transmedia approach, published through Indusverse, was designed to expand the film’s mythology and introduce audiences to the film’s secrets well ahead of its theatrical debut.
The film also features a robust supporting cast, including Maniesh Paul, Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari, and Anup Soni, who are expected to add depth to the unfolding narrative. As the countdown to September 25 begins, The Vvaan stands poised to become one of the most talked-about original folklore entertainers in recent Indian cinematic history.
