Kangana Ranaut and Vir Das Dismiss Viral Kissing Injury Rumours from 'Revolver Rani' Shoot

A decade-old rumour regarding an alleged on-set injury during the filming of the 2014 crime-drama Revolver Rani has been firmly debunked by both lead actors, Kangana Ranaut and Vir Das. The controversy, which resurfaced this week following claims made by a journalist on a popular podcast, was swiftly addressed by the duo, who characterized the narrative as entirely fabricated.

The speculation regained momentum after journalist Simi Chandoke appeared on Siddharth Kannan’s podcast. During the episode, Chandoke recounted an alleged incident from the set of Revolver Rani, claiming that Kangana Ranaut became so “consumed” by a passionate kissing scene that she continued to kiss co-star Vir Das long after the director had called “cut.” The journalist further alleged that the intensity of the moment left Das with a bleeding, injured lip, claiming he had experienced a “traumatic time” during the shoot.

These claims spread rapidly across social media platforms, with many users treating the anecdote as a factual account of the actors’ working relationship.

Recognizing the potential for professional harm, Vir Das took to X (formerly Twitter) on June 28, 2026, to directly address the buzz. He unequivocally shut down the rumour, vowing that the story was a complete fabrication.

“Right. Just so we are clear. This story is pure fiction,” Das wrote. He went on to defend Kangana’s professional conduct, stating, “Kangana was a complete professional and I still maintain, a truly gifted artist. This is unfair slander to her.”

Das also acknowledged the well-documented ideological differences that have surfaced between the two actors in the years since their film’s release—specifically Kangana’s vocal criticism of his 2021 “Two Indias” monologue. Despite their past public disagreements, Das emphasized that during their time on the Revolver Rani set, their professional rapport remained uncompromised. “She went on to call me a terrorist a few years later for my comedy, but on set… no problems at all,” he added.

Kangana Ranaut, known for her candid and often sharp public commentary, was quick to react to Vir Das’s clarification. She thanked her former co-star for setting the record straight while launching a blistering attack on the source of the rumours.

“Thanks, Vir, but who is she?” Kangana posted on X, referring to the journalist. Dismissing the claims with her signature intensity, she continued, “Ewww — seems like some weirdo using us to satisfy her demonic sex fantasies. I am eating your blood and you are traumatised and crying even today after a decade. How random.”

This is not the first time the kissing scene story has circulated on social media. Similar rumours went viral in 2023, alleging that the actors’ romantic sequence had turned violent. At that time, Kangana had also addressed the hearsay with a sarcastic social media post, joking about the absurdity of the accusations.

By speaking out collectively, Kangana and Vir Das have effectively neutralized the resurfaced gossip. For fans and industry observers, the swift joint response serves as a reminder of the distinction between speculative “Bollywood folklore” and the professional reality of film production.

As the matter now settles, the focus returns to the actors’ respective careers, with Revolver Rani remaining a notable entry in their filmographies—one defined by its dark, comic narrative rather than the unfounded rumours that have briefly clouded its legacy.
