Panic and speculation gripped Bollywood fans when a cryptic blog post penned by megastar Amitabh Bachchan suggested a hospital admission, surgery, and a challenging homecoming from the ICU. However, putting an end to anxious media reports and widespread rumours, the 83-year-old icon has clarified that his words were deeply misunderstood and had nothing to do with his personal health.
Taking to his official blog following the uproar, the veteran actor assured everyone that he is “absolutely fine…so far” and has undergone no medical procedures.
Explaining the intent behind his writing, Bachchan revealed that he was drawing a parallel between post-surgical physical recovery and the psychological aftermath experienced by a sporting champion after a crushing defeat—specifically referencing Argentina and Lionel Messi following the FIFA World Cup final.
In an interaction clarifying the confusion, Big B stated, “I am fine. I did not undergo surgery. It is a misunderstood post. I was giving an example that the period after a surgery or ICU incident, the most difficult time is when you come home and have to deal with your damaged condition. So, when a champion loses, the most difficult time is dealing with yourself in its aftermath. I was referring to Argentina’s loss and Messi as a champion that lost. People have assumed it’s a reference to me”.
The initial post that triggered the internet-wide scare featured evocative musings about being under the care of medical staff, transitioning to a discharge, and facing the complex, vulnerable phase of homecoming. Bachchan noted that readers mistakenly tied those metaphors directly to his own well-being.
Even as he maintains robust health, Amitabh Bachchan continues to keep an exceptionally busy schedule across film and television.
- Television Return: The megastar is gearing up to host the upcoming season of India’s most beloved game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, having recently introduced the fresh thematic hook “Sochna Padega” in promotional campaigns.
- Kalki 2898 AD Sequel: Following the historic box-office success of Nag Ashwin’s dystopian epic, Bachchan is reprising his revered role as the immortal warrior Ashwatthama. With production ramping up, the team is targeting a rapid filming schedule to meet its planned December 2027 theatrical release.
- Section 84: Alongside his large-scale commercial blockbusters, Bachchan is leading Ribhu Dasgupta’s intense courtroom-thriller drama Section 84, showcasing his penchant for gripping, performance-driven narratives.
- Sarkar 4 Developments: Industry talks and announcements have also pointed toward the revival of Ram Gopal Varma’s iconic political crime franchise. Reports indicate that discussions and groundwork are underway to bring back the legendary father-son dynamic featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan for a fourth instalment.
With the air finally cleared regarding his health, fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief as the legendary actor continues his active engagement both on screen and through his widely followed daily musings.
