Shraddha Kapoor Starrer Eetha Locks New Release Date for December 4, 2026

In a major strategic shift in the Bollywood release calendar, Maddock Films has officially announced a new theatrical release date for the highly anticipated biographical musical drama Eetha. Starring Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role, the film will now open in cinemas worldwide on December 4, 2026.

The project was initially locked for an August 28, 2026, release. However, to avoid a high-profile box office collision and clear a clean path for Yash‘s action extravaganza Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, the makers opted to push the film by four months. The fresh December window now sets up an exciting year-end box office landscape, placing Eetha on a competitive track alongside Prabhas’s upcoming film Fauzi.

The postponement also follows another significant change in the release calendar. Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia-starrer The Vvaan has also moved from its earlier schedule and is now slated to release on September 25, 2026.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Eetha features Shraddha Kapoor in a transformative, performance-driven avatar. The actress completely inhabits the spirit of the legendary Marathi folk performer Vithabai Narayangaonkar, widely revered as the undisputed “Tamasha Samradini” (Queen of Tamasha).

The biographical drama chronicles the extraordinary life, resilience, and profound artistic contributions of Vithabai, capturing her journey through the vibrant, demanding world of traditional folk theatre, Lavani, and cultural performance. The teaser—which generated massive digital traction upon its launch—showcases the raw emotional intensity of the narrative, highlighting a true story of artistic grit and sacrifice.

The film presents the actor as the celebrated Tamasha performer, popularly associated with the title “Tamasha Samradini” or “Queen of Tamasha.” Kapoor appears to have immersed herself deeply into the character and the cultural world surrounding the iconic performer.

The role marks a significant departure from several of Kapoor’s recent mainstream appearances. Instead of relying purely on conventional commercial tropes, Eetha promises to explore the life, art and legacy of an important figure from Maharashtra’s folk-performance tradition.

The film’s period setting and subject also give Kapoor an opportunity to explore a character-driven performance while bringing a lesser-known chapter of Marathi cultural history to a wider audience.

Eetha marks a significant and successful creative reunion between director Laxman Utekar and producer Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films, building upon their prior collaborative successes.

Complementing Shraddha Kapoor’s central performance, the film boasts a formidable ensemble cast featuring veteran and acclaimed actors:

Adding further depth to the cultural canvas, the musical score and soundtrack have been crafted by the hit-making composer duo Ajay-Atul, promising authentic folk melodies and high-energy traditional compositions.

With the release window now secured for December 4, 2026, anticipation continues to build as audiences await one of Shraddha Kapoor’s most challenging and grounded cinematic outings to date.
