The wait is finally over for fans of Telugu cinema’s most formidable actor-director duo. Superstar Jr NTR and acclaimed director Trivikram Srinivas have officially announced their second collaboration, an ambitious and grand-scale mythological drama that promises to redefine epic storytelling in Indian cinema.
Following their 2018 blockbuster Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, the duo is returning to the big screen with a project that is being described as a “cinematic universe” in the making. The film, which has been the subject of intense speculation for months, is widely believed to be a grand retelling of the legend of Lord Muruga (also known as Lord Kartikeya), the Hindu deity of war.
The project was unveiled through a stunning announcement poster shared by both Jr NTR and Trivikram on their social media handles on June 29, 2026. The poster features a war-ravaged landscape engulfed in flames, dominated by a towering trishul (trident) whose shaft subtly resembles a DNA strand—a detail that has already sparked fervent fan theories about the film’s connection between ancient mythology and scientific elements.
The official social media announcement was accompanied by a powerful caption:
“The Son of Shiva. The Pride of Parvathi. The Eternal Commander. And, once again with TRIVIKRAM.”
The makers further teased the film’s massive scale with the tagline: “Born in the North. Forged in the Heartland. Worshipped in the South. Now… A tale destined to belong to the universe.”
This mythological epic is being mounted on a massive budget, with a powerhouse production team at the helm. The film is jointly bankrolled by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram under the banner of NTR Arts and S. Radha Krishna (Chinababu) of Haarika & Hassine Creations, in association with Sithara Entertainments (Naga Vamsi).
Adding to the film’s grandeur is the inclusion of musical maestro Anirudh Ravichander. Known for his ability to craft immersive and haunting background scores, Anirudh’s involvement is expected to elevate the film’s atmospheric intensity to new heights.
While the official plot remains under wraps, the industry is buzzing with the belief that Jr NTR will essay the role of Lord Muruga, the “God of War.” The actor has reportedly been preparing for this divine avatar for some time; in fact, he was spotted at Mumbai airport last year carrying a book titled Muruga: The Lord of War, which further fuelled these rumours.
Director Trivikram Srinivas, known for his sharp dialogue and emotional depth, is reportedly working on a script that blends Vedic mythology with a modern, high-octane narrative. This project will serve as Jr NTR’s major mythological venture, following his celebrated performances in diverse genres, ranging from historical epics to hard-hitting action thrillers.
The film is currently in the pre-production stage. Jr NTR is slated to begin filming for this massive project in early 2027. The actor is presently committed to his current slate of projects, including the highly anticipated action thriller Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel, which is set to hit screens in June 2027.
As the industry prepares for this union of two creative titans, expectations for the film are reaching a fever pitch. With Trivikram’s storytelling prowess combined with Jr NTR’s unmatched screen presence and Anirudh’s musical genius, the film is poised to be one of the most significant releases in the history of Indian cinema.
