In a distressing turn of events, Bijendra Nath Tiwari, the elder brother of acclaimed Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi, has been hospitalised with critical injuries following a violent assault in Bihar’s Gopalganj district. The incident, which took place on Sunday evening in Belsand village, has sent shockwaves through the local community and the film fraternity alike.
According to preliminary reports, the assault occurred near the victim’s residence. While Bijendra Nath Tiwari was sitting outside his home, a group of individuals allegedly approached him and launched a sudden, brutal attack using sharp weapons, including an axe. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the assault, leaving Tiwari severely injured and bleeding heavily.
Local residents and family members rushed to the scene upon hearing the commotion and immediately transported Tiwari to the Model Sadar Hospital. Given the gravity of his wounds, doctors at the facility provided initial life-saving treatment but soon determined that his condition was extremely critical.
Due to the severity of the injuries sustained, Tiwari was subsequently referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for advanced medical care. He is currently under the intensive supervision of specialist doctors in Patna, who are working to stabilize his condition.
Law enforcement authorities have acted swiftly in response to the violence. The incident reportedly falls under the jurisdiction of the Barauli police station. Gopalganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinay Tiwari confirmed that the investigation is underway and that the motive appears to be linked to a long-standing land dispute and old family enmity.
“One person has been arrested in connection with the matter, and he is being sent to judicial custody,” the SP stated. A special police team has been constituted to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the attack. Raids are currently being conducted across the region to ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice.
This violent incident is the latest in a series of difficult challenges faced by Pankaj Tripathi’s family in recent years. The National Film Award-winning actor, who hails from the Belsand village, is known for his grounded connection to his roots.
The family, who generally keep away from the limelight of the film industry, faced a significant tragedy in April 2024 when the actor’s brother-in-law, Rakesh Tiwari, lost his life in a fatal road accident in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district. The same accident also left the actor’s sister, Sabita Tiwari, with a leg fracture, adding to the family’s grief.
As news of the latest attack on Bijendra Nath Tiwari spreads, fans and colleagues of Pankaj Tripathi have taken to social media to express their shock and concern, wishing for the actor’s brother’s speedy recovery. The authorities have assured the public that the investigation into the assault is being prioritized and that legal action against those responsible will be robust.
Further updates on Tiwari’s medical condition and the progress of the police investigation are expected in the coming days.
