Fans of Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar will have to wait a bit longer to witness his return to the comedy genre. The much-anticipated film “Welcome to the Jungle,” initially slated for a Christmas 2024 release, has been reportedly postponed to 2025. This news comes as a disappointment to fans who were eagerly awaiting a dose of laughter during the festive season.
“Welcome to the Jungle” is touted as a spiritual successor to the 2007 comedy hit “Welcome,” which featured Akshay Kumar alongside Anil Kapoor, Firoz Khan, and Katrina Kaif. Directed by Ahmed Khan and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, the new film features Akshay Kumar in a lead role, with the rest of the cast such as Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Shreyas Talpade, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Disha Patani, Jacquline Fernandes and many more.

The postponement also strategically avoids a potential box office clash with two other big-ticket releases scheduled for Christmas 2024. Aamir Khan’s highly anticipated film “Sitaare Zameen Par” and the Hollywood remake of “The Lion King” titled “Mufasa: The Lion King” were both slated for a December release. This shift ensures “Welcome to the Jungle” has a clear window at the box office upon its eventual release.
Despite the postponement, the core elements that generated excitement for “Welcome to the Jungle” remain intact. Akshay Kumar’s proven track record in the comedy genre, coupled with the success of the original “Welcome” film, continues to fuel anticipation.
