Viineet Kumar Singh to Play Menacing Antagonist in ‘Shakti Shalini’

The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) continues to grow its roster of formidable talent. In a thrilling new update for fans of the franchise, acclaimed actor Viineet Kumar Singh has officially signed on to play the primary antagonist in the upcoming film, Shakti Shalini.

Known for his powerhouse performances in Mukkabaaz, Rangbaaz and Chhaava, Viineet brings a new level of intensity to Dinesh Vijan’s cinematic universe. The film stars rising talent Aneet Padda in the lead role, promising a fresh dynamic for the sixth installment of India’s most successful horror-comedy franchise.

Since the groundbreaking success of Stree in 2018, Maddock Films has meticulously built a shared universe that blends folklore with humour and chills. Shakti Shalini arrives as the sixth chapter in this expansive narrative, following a lineage of hits that include: Stree (2018), Bhediya (2022), Munjya (2024), Stree 2 (2024) and Thamma (2025).

Unlike its predecessors, which often leaned heavily into slapstick humour alongside the scares, Shakti Shalini reportedly adopts a comparatively darker tone. While the “comedy” element remains a staple, the stakes in this installment appear significantly higher, with Viineet Kumar Singh’s character expected to provide a truly chilling threat.

The casting of Viineet Kumar Singh as the villain is a strategic masterstroke. Viineet’s ability to portray gritty, grounded, and complex characters makes him the perfect choice for a film aiming for a darker atmosphere. Facing off against him is Aneet Padda, who carries the weight of the film as the protagonist.

Adding further depth to the ensemble is Vishal Jethwa. Jethwa, who stunned audiences with his terrifying performance in Mardaani 2, takes on a key role in Shakti Shalini. The interaction between Jethwa and Singh—two actors known for their high-intensity performances—is already a major talking point among trade analysts and fans alike.

The film reunites producer Dinesh Vijan with director Aditya Sarpotdar. Sarpotdar has become a cornerstone of the MHCU, having previously helmed the sleeper hit Munjya and the upcoming Thamma.

His deep understanding of the universe’s lore and his knack for balancing CGI-heavy supernatural elements with human emotion make him the ideal captain for Shakti Shalini. Insiders suggest that Sarpotdar is pushing the boundaries of the “Horror-Comedy” genre in this film, leaning further into psychological horror elements to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

Originally, the makers slated Shakti Shalini for a grand theatrical release on December 24, 2026, aiming to capitalize on the lucrative Christmas and New Year holiday period. However, current industry buzz suggests that the release date is subject to change amid clash with Shah Rukh Khan starrer King.

With the production and post-production of Thamma also in the pipeline, Maddock Films may look to stagger the releases to ensure each MHCU entry receives maximum screen time. For now, the December 24 date remains a placeholder as fans wait for an official confirmation from Dinesh Vijan.

With Viineet Kumar Singh leading the charge as the villain, Shakti Shalini is poised to be the most intense entry in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe yet. As Aditya Sarpotdar prepares to weave another tale of supernatural intrigue, the question remains: is the audience ready for a darker MHCU?
