In a significant announcement that has sent ripples of excitement through the Indian film industry, visionary director SS Rajamouli has officially confirmed actor Nani’s casting in his most ambitious project to date, a cinematic adaptation of the epic Mahabharatham. Rajamouli revealed this during the pre-release event for Nani’s upcoming film “HIT: The Third Case,” where he appeared as a special guest alongside his wife Rama Rajamouli and actor Vijay Deverakonda.
“Only Nani’s Casting is Fixed” — SS Rajamouli Drops Casting Bombshell
SS Rajamouli, accompanied by his wife Rama Rajamouli and actor Vijay Deverakonda, attended the promotional event for HIT: The Third Case, which features Nani in the lead. During a lively interaction hosted by popular anchor Suma Kanakala, Rajamouli was asked about the progress of Mahabharatham, a project that has been the subject of intense speculation for years.
In response, the director confirmed,
“Only Nani’s casting is fixed. I don’t know for which role yet, but one thing is certain — Nani will definitely be a part of Mahabharatham.”
This rare admission from the usually tight-lipped filmmaker sent fans into a frenzy, as it marks the first official casting announcement for what is expected to be a multi-film epic based on the Indian mythological classic.
Nani Joins Rajamouli’s Visionary Universe
Known for his versatility and grounded performances, Nani now finds himself in the esteemed company of actors chosen by Rajamouli for iconic roles. While his exact character remains undisclosed, fans are already speculating about possible roles he might play — from Karna to Yudhishthira or even Krishna, depending on the creative interpretation Rajamouli chooses to adopt.
SS Rajamouli Currently Focused on SSMB29
While Mahabharatham is still in the early stages of conceptualisation, SS Rajamouli is currently working on another much-awaited film, #SSMB29, which stars Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. Touted as a globetrotting action-adventure, SSMB29 is expected to begin principal photography later this year.
HIT: The Third Case to Release on May 1
The film stars Nani as Arjun Sarkaar, a top-level investigator in the Homicide Intervention Team who is deployed to Jammu and Kashmir to crack a brutal case involving a group of serial killers.
Actors Vishwak Sen and Adivi Sesh, who featured in previous HIT films, also play pivotal roles in this high-stakes crime thriller. With a gripping narrative and escalating stakes, HIT: The Third Case is shaping up to be the darkest and most intense entry in the franchise so far.
