Popular Bollywood and television actor Ronit Bose Roy has issued a fierce public alert after falling victim to a sophisticated identity theft scam. On Thursday, May 21, 2026, the Udaan actor took to his official Instagram handle to expose an impostor who has been systematically contacting fans—specifically women—under the guise of organizing a “personal meet and greet” to extract money.
The actor’s swift action serves as a critical warning to his massive follower base, highlighting the dangerous lengths to which cybercriminals are going to exploit the trust fans place in their favourite stars.
The fraudulent scheme involved a high degree of manipulation. The perpetrator contacted fans via messaging platforms, falsely claiming to represent Ronit Roy. The impostor even went as far as sending official-looking confirmation emails for “meet and greet bookings” to add a layer of legitimacy to the scam.
In his public statement, Ronit shared screenshots of these deceptive interactions, where the individual explicitly asked for “registration fees” in advance. The actor exposed the specific channels used by the criminal:
- Fraudulent Contact Number: A Zangi number: +3318085685
- Deceptive Email ID: ronitroybookings@hotmail.com
Ronit made it abundantly clear that these contact details have absolutely no association with him or his professional team.
Ronit Roy did not mince words when addressing the perpetrator. Alongside the warning to his fans, he sent a direct message to the person behind the fraud: “As for the perpetrator… cops are coming for you.”
The actor’s decision to go public with the screenshots was aimed at preventing any further financial loss to his fans. He emphasized the importance of public awareness, stating, “It has come to my notice that someone has been using my name and reaching out to people, especially girls, and asking for money. This person has been trying to take bookings in my name. Everyone, be careful.”
Beyond the immediate threat of this scam, Ronit Roy took the opportunity to educate his followers on the standard operating procedures of his management team. He stressed that neither he nor his official representatives would ever initiate private contact on social networks, nor would they ever solicit money for personal interactions.
“Please note, I will never approach women on social network or otherwise. Obviously, I will never ask anyone for money. If y’all come across anyone like that, please bring it to my notice immediately,” Ronit clarified.
This incident highlights a growing wave of cybercrime targeting public figures. Impostors frequently weaponize the parasocial relationships between fans and celebrities to create a sense of false intimacy, making victims more likely to comply with financial demands.
While navigating this security issue, Ronit Roy continues to maintain a busy professional schedule. The actor is currently preparing for his upcoming project, Teen Kauwe. The series is produced by Roy Kapur Films, backed by producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, and is created by the acclaimed Abbas Tyrewala with Priyanka Ghose serving as the director and co-creator.
The actor remains focused on his work while working with the relevant authorities to ensure that the individual responsible for this cyber fraud is brought to justice.
