Sachin Sanghvi fame of Music Duo Sachin-Jigar Faces FIR After 29-Year-Old Alleges Assault Under Pretext of Music Video Role and Marriage Promise

Bollywood music composer Sachin Sanghvi, one half of the celebrated duo Sachin-Jigar and the music director for the recent hit film Thamma, currently faces serious charges of sexual harassment. Following an official First Information Report (FIR) filed by a 29-year-old woman, police briefly detained Sanghvi before a court released him on bail on Friday.
The news sends a shockwave through the film industry, particularly as the composer’s work on Maddock Films’ latest release Thamma continues to gain widespread attention. The legal proceedings commenced after the complainant formally levelled the severe allegations.
According to reports from India Today and other news agencies, the complainant detailed a disturbing sequence of events in her FIR. She alleged that Sachin Sanghvi initially contacted her via a message on Instagram in February 2024. The musician reportedly promised her a pivotal role in an upcoming music video and subsequently encouraged the exchange of contact numbers.
The situation escalated when Sanghvi allegedly called the woman to his music studio. The complainant claims the composer there proposed marriage and sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions under the pretense of this promise. These allegations form the basis of the case registered against the popular music director. Law enforcement acted swiftly, taking Sanghvi into custody for questioning and documentation.
Immediately following his release, Sachin Sanghvi’s legal team launched a robust defence, vehemently denying all charges.
Aditya Mithe, Sanghvi’s lawyer, addressed the media, issuing a strong statement that refuted the allegations as completely unfounded. Mithe actively challenged the legitimacy of both the complaint and the arrest itself, stating, “The allegations in the FIR against my client are absolutely baseless and unsubstantiated. There are absolutely no merits to the case.”
Mithe further asserted that Sanghvi’s brief detention by law enforcement was “illegal,” and this perceived illegality was the reason for his immediate release on bail. The lawyer concluded his statement by firmly declaring the defence’s strategy: “We intend to defend all allegations fully and unequivocally.”
Sachin Sanghvi and his music partner Jigar Saraiya have created numerous hit songs for major Bollywood films over the years, including the soundtracks for Stree, Bhediya, and the recently released Thamma. The allegations now cast a major shadow over his personal and professional life. Sanghvi himself has not yet issued a personal statement on the matter, and his official social media presence has reportedly been deactivated.
The music duo’s professional commitments, including work on high-profile projects, now face uncertainty as the legal case proceeds. Authorities confirm the investigation remains active. They will now thoroughly examine the complaint’s claims, the evidence presented in the FIR, and the subsequent statements from the accused’s legal counsel.
The court granted bail to Sanghvi, but the legal process is far from over. Bollywood and music fans alike will closely follow the ongoing investigation as both the complainant’s allegations and the defence’s denial move through the judicial system. The outcome of the case will undoubtedly have significant ramifications across the entertainment industry.
