Maddock Films and Amazon Prime Video Lock an 8-Film Deal

In a landmark collaboration set to reshape the landscape of Indian cinema, Maddock Films and Amazon Prime Video have announced a multi-year, multi-film licensing partnership. Under this landmark agreement, Prime Video will hold the exclusive global post-theatrical streaming rights to eight upcoming Maddock productions. This strategic alliance guarantees that audiences will have a seamless viewing experience, as some of the most anticipated movies from one of Bollywood’s leading production houses will be available for streaming shortly after their big-screen release.

The Future of Film: From Theatres to Streaming

The partnership is a clear signal of the evolving synergy between theatrical releases and streaming platforms. Dinesh Vijan, the visionary CEO and founder of Maddock Films, emphasized this in a statement, saying, “Prime Video has consistently championed cinema that transcends languages, geographies, and formats. Be it our horror-comedy universe or our cherished franchises, our goal has always been to build worlds that audiences enjoy returning to. This strategic long-term post-theatrical licensing deal is a natural extension of our shared vision: to take Indian storytelling to a truly global stage.”

This deal ensures that the films will have both the grandeur of a theatrical release and the global reach of a streaming giant. For moviegoers, it means a guaranteed window for watching Maddock’s films from the comfort of their homes, while for the filmmakers, it secures a reliable and profitable post-theatrical revenue stream.

A Blockbuster Slate: The Films to Watch Out For

The eight-film slate includes a mix of genres and highly anticipated sequels, promising a diverse cinematic experience for viewers. The deal includes all the upcoming films from the celebrated Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe, which has already delivered blockbusters like Stree 2 and Munjya. The films confirmed in the deal include:

  • Thama“: The much-awaited horror-comedy starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, which has already created a buzz with its teaser. The film is set to release this Diwali.
  • Param Sundari“: A romantic comedy starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, this film is already generating excitement with its music and is set for a theatrical release on August 29, 2025.
  • “Shiddat 2”: A sequel to the popular romantic film, this project is expected to continue the emotional and dramatic saga of its characters.
  • “Badlapur 2”: The highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed revenge thriller, this film is expected to delve deeper into its dark and intense world.
  • Ikkis“: Directed by master storyteller Sriram Raghavan, this film stars Agastya Nanda and is a biopic based on the life of Arun Khetarpal, a Param Vir Chakra hero.

In addition to these titles, the partnership also includes three more films that are yet to be announced, adding an element of surprise for fans.

A Shared History of Success

The collaboration between Maddock Films and Amazon Prime Video is not a new one. The two companies have a longstanding relationship, with Prime Video previously acquiring the streaming rights to a number of Maddock’s past hits, including Stree 2, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, and the first installment of Stree. This new multi-film deal solidifies their strategic partnership and demonstrates a shared vision for delivering compelling, high-quality content to a global audience.

Manish Menghani, director & head of content licensing, Prime Video, India, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to expand our strategic collaboration with Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films to continue delivering on our promise of bringing compelling stories to audiences across the world.”

The deal is a significant development for the Indian film industry, as it provides a robust and predictable model for film distribution in an era where digital platforms play an increasingly crucial role. It ensures that Maddock’s cinematic creations will not only have a strong presence on the big screen but will also find a permanent home on one of the world’s most popular streaming services.
