The Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath, through its treasurer Syed Kous, expressed deep disappointment over the presence of individuals described as “drunkards and rowdies” at the gathering. The complaint states that these attendees insulted the Muslim community, as their presence was deemed inappropriate for an event meant to celebrate a religious tradition.
Further concerns were raised about the mismanagement of the event, including inadequate arrangements and alleged misconduct by security personnel. According to reports, some attendees felt they were “treated like cows,” leading to widespread dissatisfaction among the Muslim community.
Official Statement from Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath
In an official statement, Syed Kous emphasized that the involvement of individuals with no connection to fasting or Iftar had tarnished the purpose of the gathering.
“Muslims were insulted at the Iftar programme organised by Vijay. We believe the participation of drunkards and rowdies who had nothing to do with fasting or Iftar has insulted Muslims,” he stated.
