Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra, who recently made headlines for offering a film to Maha Kumbh viral girl Monalisa, has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad in connection with a rape case. The arrest follows the Delhi High Court’s rejection of his bail application.
On March 30, 2024, the 45-year-old director was taken into custody by Delhi Police after intelligence gathering and technical surveillance. Following his arrest, he was handed over to the Nabi Karim Police Station for further proceedings. Mishra, who resides in Mumbai with his family, now faces serious legal charges.
Complaint Filed by 28-Year-Old Aspiring Actress
The case surfaced after a 28-year-old woman accused Mishra of sexually assaulting her multiple times over four years. The complainant, an aspiring film actress, claimed that she and Mishra were in a live-in relationship in Mumbai during this period. She further alleged that he coerced her into undergoing three abortions.
According to her police statement, Mishra initially promised to marry her but later backed out. The Delhi Police confirmed that an FIR was registered on March 6, 2024, under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape, assault, forced miscarriage, and criminal intimidation. The woman reiterated her allegations in a statement recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC.
Investigation and Medical Evidence Collection
Investigators have gathered crucial medical evidence related to the alleged abortions from Muzaffarnagar. The case’s turning point occurred on February 18, 2025, when Sanoj Mishra allegedly took the woman to Hotel Shiva in Nabi Karim. There, he is accused of engaging in physical relations with her before abandoning her, prompting her to file a police complaint.
Authorities are now delving deeper into the case, collecting additional evidence, and verifying the claims made by the complainant. Meanwhile, Mishra remains in custody as legal proceedings continue. His arrest has sparked discussions about accountability in the entertainment industry and the protection of aspiring actors from exploitation.
