Bollywood veteran Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, have once again made headlines, but this time with a positive update regarding their long-standing marriage. Speculation and concern spread rapidly across social media when Sunita Ahuja was spotted at Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court alongside her son, Yashvardhan Ahuja. However, putting all rumours to rest, Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, has officially confirmed that Sunita has withdrawn the divorce case she had previously filed against the actor.
The sudden legal move comes on the heels of a fresh round of public friction between the couple, triggered by viral airport sightings and candid media remarks. Fortunately, the latest development signals a return to normalcy for the family, who have been married for nearly four decades.
Sunita Ahuja’s appearance at the Bandra Family Court naturally caught the attention of the paparazzi and public alike. Accompanied by her son Yashvardhan, she stepped out of the premises looking stern, choosing to deflect media queries with characteristic wit by playfully remarking, “Birthday manane aaye hai” (We came to celebrate a birthday) before driving away.
However, behind the scenes, serious legal steps were being wrapped up. Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha confirmed the withdrawal, bringing immense relief to fans of the iconic star.
“Sab log darr kyu rahe hai. Sunita ji ne apna case wapas liya hai. Yeh toh khush hone ki baat hai,” Sinha stated, adding that there is no separation between the couple. He noted that whatever issues existed are now a thing of the past and that the family is choosing to move forward.
Rumours surrounding turbulence in Govinda and Sunita’s marriage had circulated for several months. Reports previously indicated that Sunita had filed a divorce petition at the Bandra Family Court under the Hindu Marriage Act, citing standard legal grounds including cruelty, desertion, and differences.
The latest wave of tension reignited recently when Sunita made sharp public comments regarding a young woman spotted with Govinda at an airport—who was later identified as his co-star from the upcoming film Roopa. Sunita’s candid remarks quickly went viral, prompting a public response from Govinda, who appealed for privacy and asked that personal matters not be dragged into the public eye to safeguard his career and reputation.
Having tied the knot in March 1987, Govinda and Sunita share a deep-rooted history, along with two children, daughter Tina Ahuja and son Yashvardhan Ahuja. Despite occasional storms and public scrutiny, the couple has consistently found a way back to each other.
With the divorce petition officially withdrawn, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the veteran actor prepares for his professional commitments, including his upcoming film Roopa, while putting domestic hurdles firmly behind him.
