
Indian audiences rejoice! The much-awaited Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, finally has a release date and its cast has been officially unveiled.
In a major development for Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious Ramayana project, Kannada superstar Yash has reportedly come on board as a producer. This news comes after producer Madhu Mantena’s exit due to undisclosed reasons, which sparked uncertainty about the film’s future.
Yash, known for his leading role in the KGF franchise, is said to be a passionate supporter of the project. While initially approached to play the role of Ravana, reports suggest he expressed his desire to be more involved. His production company, Yash Films, is expected to collaborate with the existing producers, including DNEG, to ensure the film’s smooth sailing.
This epic trilogy, touted to be one of the most technically advanced projects in Indian cinema, will hit the screens on Diwali 2025. Nitesh Tiwari, known for his acclaimed films like Dangal, is helming this project alongside directors Namit Malhotra and Shridhar Raghavan.
The film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as the antagonist Ravana. Adding to the grandeur are actors Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, and Rakul Preet Singh. Reports suggest that Sunny Deol will be playing Lord Hanuman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet is approached to essay the role of Shurpanakha and Arun Govil will be enacting Raja Dashrath. Reports also suggest talks are underway with Bobby Deol and Vijay Sethupathi to join the cast.
The Ramayana, a revered tale retold for generations, promises a visually stunning spectacle with cutting-edge VFX by Oscar-winning studio DNEG. However, the creative team assures that the heart of the film lies in its storytelling and the emotional depth of its characters.
