Baaghi 4 Fails to Impress, Crumbles in First Week with Underwhelming Collection

Baaghi 4 first week box office collection

The highly-anticipated fourth installment of the Baaghi franchise, ‘Baaghi 4,’ has concluded its first week at the box office with a deeply disappointing performance. The film, starring Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Sandhu, has managed to collect a meager ₹44.5 crore net in India, according to reports from industry trackers like Sacnilk. This figure places the film’s box office journey on a shaky foundation and falls significantly short of expectations for a franchise known for its commercial success.

Despite a promising trailer that showcased a new “rogue” avatar for the actors, the final product failed to resonate with audiences, leading to a steep decline in collections after a decent opening weekend. The film’s underwhelming performance has raised questions about the franchise’s future and the star power of its lead actor.

A Disappointing First Week Collection of Baaghi 4

Baaghi 4 opened with a respectable collection of ₹12 crore on its first Friday, a figure that initially hinted at a strong run. However, the momentum could not be sustained. After a modest weekend that brought in approximately ₹31.25 crore, the film’s collections saw a drastic drop of over 50% on weekdays. The week concluded with daily collections hovering around the ₹2 crore mark, reflecting a significant lack of footfall in theatres.

The film’s performance is a stark contrast to its predecessors. For context, Baaghi 3 had collected a hefty ₹90 crore in its first week, a figure that was already considered below expectations for its scale due to external factors. The fourth installment has not even managed to reach half of that number in its debut week, signalling a clear disconnect with the audience. Its domestic net collection of ₹44.5 crore is a major setback for the producers and a clear indication of a commercial failure.

The Trailer’s Promise vs. Audience Verdict

The initial buzz around Baaghi 4 was fuelled by a high-octane trailer that promised an intense and gritty action spectacle. Tiger Shroff’s fans, in particular, were excited to see him in a more ruthless and raw avatar. The film also marked the Hindi debut of former Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu, which added to the curiosity.

However, audience and critical reviews painted a different picture. While the action sequences and stunts were a highlight for some, a general consensus emerged that the film’s weak and muddled storyline failed to hold the narrative together. The screenplay, which was reportedly an unofficial remake of the 2013 Tamil film Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu, failed to adapt its plot for a new audience. Many viewers found the narrative disjointed and the emotional core lacking, leaving them with an unfulfilling cinematic experience.

The low occupancy rates throughout the week further reflect the public’s lack of interest. Despite a wide release, the film struggled to fill seats, with the average occupancy rate in many cities barely reaching double digits. This response suggests that the film’s trailer delivered an illusion of a strong movie, but the final product did not live up to the hype.

The Star-Studded Cast and Direction

Baaghi 4 brought together a star-studded cast under the direction of A. Harshan, in his Hindi film debut. The film’s lineup included Tiger Shroff, the face of the franchise, and veteran actor Sanjay Dutt in a key role. Sonam Bajwa and Harnaaz Sandhu played the female leads, with Sandhu’s performance in particular drawing mixed reviews.

The film’s budget, reportedly around ₹80 crore, makes its ₹44.5 crore collection in the first week a significant loss. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film was a massive production, and its failure is a major financial blow. While the producers and actors put in a lot of effort, it seems that the director’s vision and the script’s execution were not strong enough to win over the audience.

The lackluster performance of Baaghi 4 also places pressure on Tiger Shroff, who has had a mixed box office run in recent years. With a strong fan following for his action prowess, the onus will now be on his upcoming projects to regain his commercial footing.
