The “jhakaas” veteran of Indian cinema is trading his suave suits for a battle-hardened avatar. Today, Prime Video India officially unveiled the teaser for the highly anticipated action-drama Subedaar, starring the evergreen Anil Kapoor in the titular role.
The makers confirmed that the film will skip a theatrical window and premiere exclusively on Prime Video on March 5, 2026. Directed by the acclaimed Suresh Triveni, known for his masterful storytelling in Tumhari Sulu and Jalsa, the film promises a gritty, grounded exploration of honour, duty, and the struggle of a man who refuses to stay silent in a decaying society.
The one-minute-and-16-second teaser offers a visceral look at Subedaar Arjun Maurya (Anil Kapoor), a retired soldier trying to navigate the mundane challenges of civilian life. However, the world he returns to is far from the one he swore to protect. The footage showcases a brooding, intense Kapoor dealing with corrupt officials, street goons, and a society that has lost its moral compass.
One of the standout moments in the teaser features Arjun sitting calmly in a dimly lit room as a group of men taunts him from outside. With a cold, steady hand, he loads his weapon—a clear signal that the “Subedaar” is about to go to war again. The high-octane action is balanced with a raw emotional core, hinting at a fractured relationship between Arjun and his daughter.
Subedaar isn’t just a solo show; it features a stellar cast that brings depth to the Indian heartland narrative:
