In a terrifying incident that highlights the escalating issue of resident aggression in housing societies, actor Anuj Sachdeva was brutally attacked by a co-resident at his Harmony Mall Residency in Goregaon, Mumbai. The actor, best known for his roles in popular TV shows, shared a harrowing video on his Instagram account late Sunday evening, December 14, documenting the unprovoked assault which left him bleeding and shaken.
The dispute, which began over a simple parking notification, spiralled into a violent confrontation involving alleged threats, abuse, and the use of a wooden stick. The viral video has sparked widespread outrage among fans and industry colleagues, demanding swift police action against the aggressor.
According to Anuj Sachdeva’s detailed account, the confrontation was initially triggered by a routine complaint he posted in the society’s resident group. Sachdeva stated that he was assaulted after notifying the group regarding the resident’s car, which was “parked at the wrong place in the society parking.”
The resident, identified in the actor’s post as being from A-wing, flat 602, became enraged upon seeing the notification. In the disturbing video shared by Sachdeva, the man can be seen abusing the actor while pursuing him aggressively within the society premises.
The situation turned violent when the resident allegedly picked up a large, random stick (or rod) from a nearby area and proceeded to strike Sachdeva, causing him to bleed from his head. The actor managed to film the frightening moments, capturing the man’s persistent verbal abuse and physical aggression despite the intervention of two society security guards.
Compounding the core parking dispute, the resident involved in the assault aggressively countered with an accusation that Anuj Sachdeva’s dog had bitten him. Anuj Sachdeva firmly denied this claim, asserting that the man became violent and began abusing him and attempting to hit his pet after the parking complaint was raised.
In his emotional social media post, the actor highlighted the man’s attempt to harm both him and his pet:
“He tried hitting my dog and me with a rod for notifying in the society group regarding his car which was parked at the wrong place in the society parking.”
The actor’s testimony suggests that the resident’s allegation about the dog bite was a spurious attempt to justify or deflect attention from his violent reaction to the parking notification. The incident highlights the growing friction and lack of tolerance often seen in gated community disputes, which frequently involve pets and parking.
The shocking video, which the actor posted as “evidence before this person tries to do any damage to me or my property,” rapidly gained traction, with thousands of users demanding immediate intervention from the Mumbai Police. Sachdeva confirmed that he was seeking medical attention for his injuries and was in the process of filing an official First Information Report (FIR) against the resident.
The incident has opened a wider conversation on the safety of residents, especially celebrities, in high-rise societies and the need for stricter enforcement of society rules and penalties for acts of violence. Arti Singh, Vivan Bathena, Kishwer Merchant and others from the film and television industry has rallied around Anuj Sachdeva, expressing shock and condemnation over the unprovoked attack and urging the authorities to take strict legal action against the perpetrator to set a strong precedent against resident aggression.
The Mumbai Police is expected to launch a formal investigation into the matter based on the video evidence and Sachdeva’s complaint, with charges likely to include assault and criminal intimidation.
