Kapil Sharma starrer ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2’ Set for Re-release on Jan 9

In a bold and rare box office maneuver, the makers of the comedy sequel Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 (KKPK 2) starring Kapil Sharma have announced a theatrical re-release. After initially hitting screens on December 12, 2025, the film is now gearing up for a fresh start on January 9, 2026.

The decision comes after the film’s initial run was cut short by the unprecedented “box office wrath” of the action juggernaut Dhurandhar. Recognizing that their wholesome family entertainer deserves a fairer shot at the spotlight, the producers are opting for a “reset” to reach a broader audience that might have missed the chaos in the December rush.

The month of December 2025 will be remembered in Bollywood history as the era of Dhurandhar. The Ranveer Singh-starrer commanded a record-breaking number of screens and an iron grip on the ticket windows, leaving little breathing room for mid-budget comedies.

While Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 received positive word-of-mouth for its humour and Kapil Sharma’s relatable charm, the lack of available high-value showtimes led to a dull collection. Rather than letting the project fade away, the powerhouse production team—led by Abbas Mustan, Ratan Jain, and Ganesh Jain—has chosen to pivot.

“We believe in the content of KKPK 2,” a representative from the production house stated. “The December window was incredibly crowded. By moving to January 9th, we are giving Kapil’s fans and family audiences a dedicated space to enjoy the film without the surrounding noise.”

The sequel brings back Kapil Sharma in his most comfortable element: a man caught in a web of hilarious romantic entanglements. However, the stakes and the laughs are significantly higher this time around. Directed by Anukalp Goswami, the film features a vibrant ensemble cast that adds layers of wit and drama to the screenplay.

The addition of Manjot Singh as Kapil’s friend provides a brilliant comedic foil, while the four leading ladies— Tridha Choudhry, Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan, Hira Warina—bring distinct energies to the complicated romantic “quadrant” that Kapil finds himself navigating.

While the original film was directed by the legendary Abbas-Mustan, the sequel sees Anukalp Goswami taking the director’s chair. Goswami, who has a deep background in writing sharp, observational comedy, has reportedly infused the sequel with modern sensibilities while maintaining the slapstick DNA that made the first part a hit.

The legendary duo Abbas-Mustan remains heavily involved as producers, ensuring the film retains the high production values and slick pacing that define their brand. Alongside Ratan Jain and Ganesh Jain, they have crafted a film that functions as both a sequel and a standalone entertainer.

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 promises a wholesome entertainer packed with action, emotion, comedy, and drama. It centers on the “massy” appeal of Kapil Sharma, presenting him in a situation that is every man’s nightmare but every audience member’s delight.

The film explores contemporary themes of relationships and social media fame, all while keeping the core focus on “clean comedy” that can be enjoyed by children and elders alike. With the New Year festivities winding down by Jan 9, the film aims to be the first big laugh of 2026.

As we approach January 9, 2026, the question remains: Can Kapil Sharma’s charm outshine the box office shadows of the past? If the trailer’s 50 million+ views are any indication, the audience is more than ready for a second helping of this comedy of errors.
