The Indian comedy fraternity has been plunged into grief as actor-comedian Rajiv Thakur is mourning the loss of his father. Rajiv, who became a household name with his memorable performances on popular television comedy platforms, received the tragic news just as he was traveling to Indore for a scheduled live performance alongside fellow comedian Krushna Abhishek.
Following the bereavement, the live event has been officially postponed, with organizers and close co-stars extending their support to the grieving family.
While Rajiv Thakur has yet to issue a public statement, his close friend and co-star Krushna Abhishek confirmed the unfortunate passing. Krushna had already landed in Indore when he learned of the tragedy, discovering that the news reached Rajiv just as they were boarding their flight.
Addressing fans and ticket holders through a video shared via the event organizers’ social media handles, a visibly emotional Krushna explained the sudden cancellation:
“I have just landed in Indore. I have some sad news to share with you. Just as we were taking off for Indore, Rajiv Thakur, who was supposed to perform with me, lost his father. This is very sad news for him, me, and the entire fraternity.”
The event management team announced that all ticket holders would receive a full refund, and a rescheduled date for the live show will be announced once the family navigates through this difficult time.
Rajiv Thakur has built a diverse and respected career spanning regional theatre, television, films, and live stand-up comedy. Hailing from Amritsar, he began his journey in regional Punjabi theatre before stepping onto national television screens.
