In a development that mirrors the high-stakes intensity of his own blockbuster films, the real-life drama surrounding filmmaker Rohit Shetty took a decisive turn today. The Mumbai Police successfully executed a multi-state operation to apprehend the suspected main shooter and six accomplices linked to the recent firing incident at the director’s residence.
The arrests, spanning across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, mark a significant victory for the city’s law enforcement. While Shetty is known for his “Singham” style justice, this time, the Mumbai Crime Branch took the lead, proving that real-world policing requires a level of coordination that even a 70mm lens can’t quite capture.
The operation was not a simple door-knock. Following a trail of digital footprints and tip-offs, investigators fanned out across North India. The Crime Branch, led by Joint Commissioner Lakhmi Gautam and Additional Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade, coordinated with local authorities to corner the suspects in their hideouts.
The main shooter, whose identity is currently being shielded for further investigative protocols, was reportedly traced to a remote location in Haryana. Simultaneously, six other individuals, believed to have provided logistical support—ranging from weapons transport to local reconnaissance—were picked up from various districts in Uttar Pradesh.
Investigators have made one thing crystal clear: this was not a random act of Shubham Lonkar, a prominent member of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The motive behind the gunfire was aimed to instil a sense of fear and establish their “supremacy” over the entertainment capital.
“This was a calculated move to send a message to the industry,” a source within the Crime Branch stated. “By targeting a high-profile figure like Rohit Shetty, the gang sought to amplify their reach and intimidate others within the fraternity.”
Following their transit to Mumbai, the seven accused appeared before a local court. The judge remanded the suspects to police custody until February 25, 2026, allowing investigators time to unravel the deeper layers of the conspiracy.
However, the case still has one major missing piece. During the court proceedings, the police admitted that they have not yet recovered the firearms used during the firing. The suspects have reportedly been tight-lipped about the location of the weapons, leading investigators to believe they may have been disposed of or hidden by a separate “cleanup” cell of the gang.
The success of the operation is being credited to the meticulous planning of the top brass. Joint Commissioner Lakhmi Gautam and Additional Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade reportedly monitored the live feeds and field reports throughout the 48-hour operation.
Their strategy relied heavily on technical intelligence—intercepting encrypted communications used by the Bishnoi gang members to coordinate their cross-border movements. This high-tech approach highlights the evolving nature of Mumbai’s battle against organized crime.
The film industry, which has been on edge following recent threats to various stars, has breathed a collective sigh of relief. Rohit Shetty, who has remained stoic throughout the ordeal, is reportedly back at work, though security around his sets and residence remains at an all-time high.
As the police continue their interrogation, the focus now shifts to Shubham Lonkar. With the shooters in custody, the path leads directly to the leadership of the Bishnoi gang, and the Mumbai Police seem determined to ensure this “script” ends with a conviction.
