The screams are getting louder and the stakes are getting higher. In a major announcement that has taken the industry by storm today, February 13, 2026, the makers of the cult horror franchise Ragini MMS have officially confirmed its third theatrical installment. Titled Ragini 3, the film will feature a fresh and intriguing pairing: the versatile Tamannaah Bhatia and the rising star Junaid Khan.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd., the project marks a significant shift for the franchise. Moving away from its previous “found footage” and erotica roots, Ragini 3 is being billed as a “Date Night Horror”—a stylish, high-octane thriller designed to deliver edge-of-the-seat entertainment with a blend of chills and humour.
The captain of this ship is none other than the acclaimed filmmaker Shashanka Ghosh. Known for his distinct storytelling in hits like Veere Di Wedding, Khoobsurat, and the gritty Freddy, Ghosh’s involvement signals a creative evolution for the series.
This project also marks a reunion between Ghosh and Balaji Motion Pictures. According to a press release, the director aims to bring a “bold, fresh, and stylized” aesthetic to the horror genre. While Sahir Raza remains the project’s main creative leader, Ghosh steps in to helm the director’s chair, promising a narrative that balances supernatural dread with modern sensibilities.
For Junaid Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, Ragini 3 represents a bold step into the commercial horror space. Having made a powerful lead debut in the period drama Maharaj (2024), Junaid has quickly become one of the most closely watched actors of the new generation.
In 2025, Junaid headlined the romantic comedy Loveyapa, and he is currently awaiting the release of Ek Din (slated for May 1, 2026), where he stars alongside Sai Pallavi. Joining a franchise as popular as Ragini proves that Junaid is unafraid to experiment with diverse genres, from social dramas to supernatural thrillers.
Tamannaah Bhatia continues her streak as one of the busiest actresses in the country. Following her viral success with the song “Aaj Ki Raat” in Stree 2 and her recent appearance in Odela 2, Tamannaah was the “only choice” for the lead in Ragini 3, according to production insiders.
Her ability to seamlessly blend glamour with intense, suspenseful performances makes her the perfect fit for this reimagined “Date Night Horror.” Apart from Ragini 3, Tamannaah is also gearing up for the release of Vvan alongside Sidharth Malhotra on May 15, 2026, and the action-thriller O’ Romeo (which released in theaters today, February 13).
The Ragini MMS series began in 2011 with Rajkummar Rao and gained massive commercial popularity in 2014 with Sunny Leone. After a long hiatus, Ekta Kapoor is modernizing the brand for 2026.
The announcement has already sparked a massive wave of excitement across social media. The pairing of a seasoned performer like Tamannaah with a fresh, evolving talent like Junaid Khan is being viewed as a masterstroke by trade analysts.
As Balaji Motion Pictures prepares to take the film on floors, the “Forest of Ragini” is ready to whisper again—but this time, the world is watching with bated breath.
