Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya Review
- 09/02/2024
“Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” released in February 2024, explores a unique love story between a man and a humanoid robot. Though we have seen a love story between a Human and Robot earlier also but on a big screen, treatment is refreshing but humour is missing. While the concept sparks intrigue, the execution leaves room for improvement. Aryan (Shahid Kapoor) who is a Robotic Engineer in E Robotics went to USA to meet his Aunt Urmila (Dimple Kapadia) who is also a Senior Employee in E Robotics but due to some urgent work she flew to Belgium and asked SIFRA (Kriti Sanon) to attend Aryan. Aryan who fell in love with SIFRA doesn’t know that SIFRA is a Robot. He gets back to Delhi and agrees to marry the girl of his family’s choice but wasn’t able to get SIFRA out of his mind. He asked his Aunt to send SIFRA to Delhi as an experiment and told his family that he is marrying her. What happens next is the depth of the story.
The film delves into the uncharted territory of human-robot relationships, offering a thought-provoking premise. The ethical and emotional complexities are explored, albeit not always in-depth. Shahid Kapoor is refreshing and good in his portrayel. Kriti Sanon shines as Sifra, the robot, bringing warmth and vulnerability to the character. Her portrayal is convincing, making Sifra relatable despite her non-human nature.
The soundtrack is catchy and well-composed, contributing to the film’s lighthearted atmosphere. The song “Laal Peeli Akhiyaan” has become a chart-topper.
The screenplay struggles to balance the romance with the sci-fi and family drama elements. The pacing is inconsistent, with some scenes feeling rushed and others dragging. The film’s setting, a future where robots are commonplace, is not fully explored. The rules and limitations of this world remain unclear, hindering audience immersion.
The film relies on outdated and sexist jokes, which often feel tone-deaf and detract from the overall experience.
“Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” boasts a compelling premise and strong performances from its leads. However, the inconsistent script, underdeveloped worldbuilding, and clichéd humour hold it back from reaching its full potential. If you’re looking for a light hearted romance with a sci-fi twist, this film might offer some entertainment. However, if you’re expecting a deeper exploration of human-robot relationships or a well-developed sci-fi world, you might be disappointed.
